Archipelago Foods is hosting the first event in their Java Series—an Indonesian Coffee Festival happening for one day only on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The event is presented in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Vancouver.

Held in the Main Hall at 1630 Alberni Street, the festival is free to attend, but advance registration is required at javayvr-indonesian.eventbrite.ca. Programming includes crop cupping, coffee tastings, and discussions about the culture and industry shaping Indonesian coffee today.
The morning begins with crop cupping led by the Kopi Indonesia HUB team from Gravfarm, a coffee collective based in West Java. Guests will be introduced to new harvests and guided through tasting profiles by producers visiting from Indonesia.
Next, a panel called Conversations on Coffee Craft & Culture features Gravfarm co-founders Lucy and Yugi alongside Mengo McCall, owner of Coffee Central Roasting in Vancouver. The discussion will touch on West Java’s historical role in coffee production, current growing practices, and the evolution of the industry from a global and ethical perspective.
To round out the day, a Coffee Tasting will feature Kopi Indonesia, a new product line by Archipelago Foods that includes blends and single-origin beans. Attendees can sample beans processed using washed, hulled, honey, and natural methods.
Archipelago recently launched their Archipelago Kopi Indonesia collection as part of their broader mission to connect North American audiences with Indonesian producers. The company works closely with small and mid-sized businesses in Indonesia to help their products reach new markets.
