Always nice to support small, local restaurants that have been around for a long time. We visited Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle House in Mount Pleasant and ordered a table full of food.

The Deep Fried Chili & Salt Tofu was crispy and well seasoned, with a little heat from the chilies. The Lemon Chicken was sweet and tangy, and the Sweet and Sour Boneless Pork with Pineapple had plenty of sauce.

I liked the Sautéed Pea Tips with Garlic which were fresh, garlicky and still had a bit of crunch. The Deep Fried Eggplant Braised with Sauce was another favourite. The eggplant was very tender and had soaked up all the savoury sauce.

The Stir Fried Rice Noodles with Beef in Soy Sauce had tender pieces of beef and a good soy sauce flavour. We also ordered the Beef with Vegetables and Stir Fried Vegetables, which gave us a few lighter dishes between the fried and saucy ones.

Good portions, lots of flavour and reasonable prices. We had enough left for another meal at home.
