BC Association of Farmers’ Markets is inviting locals and travellers to explore more than 145 markets across the province through the 2025 BC Farmers’ Market Summer Challenge. Backed in part by Destination BC, the campaign encourages the public to visit local markets and take simple steps to support small businesses and food producers while experiencing unique regional offerings.

Explore BC Farmers’ Markets This Summer With Local Trail Challenge

The Summer Challenge is a digital initiative hosted on the BC Farmers’ Market Trail Tasting Passport App to complete five local actions that benefit BC farmers, food entrepreneurs, and small businesses:

  1. Shop Local – Buy your food from BC farmers and food entrepreneurs.
  2. Plan a Visit – Make markets a weekly or monthly part of your routine.
  3. Go Green – Walk, bike, or take transit to a market at least once this season.
  4. Explore BC – Add farmers’ markets to your summer travel itinerary using the BC Farmers’ Market Trail.
  5. Stay Connected – Follow your favourite markets online or subscribe for updates.

All products sold at official BC Farmers’ Market member markets are 100% grown, made, or baked in BC. With rising costs and new food tariffs, supporting BC-based food production has taken on added importance. Market visits directly support farmers and food entrepreneurs while helping sustain the broader economy. A recent study found BC’s farmers’ markets contribute over $232 million to the economy, with nearby businesses also benefiting from increased traffic.

Markets range from large city events to seasonal rural pop-ups, offering everything from fresh produce to locally baked goods. More than 1 million visitors attend BC farmers’ markets annually, drawn by their community-driven nature and accessible atmosphere.
