Upstairs Hot Pot is a new addition to Richmond’s dining scene serving hot pots in spicy and non-spicy options and authentic Chongqing noodles.

The husband-and-wife team behind the restaurant focus on housemade sauces and carefully prepared soup bases that set the tone for a satisfying hot pot experience.

Dining there feels like visiting a friend’s home for a comforting, homecooked meal.
The hot pots are offered in several varieties with the option to customize noodle type and add-ins.
We tried the Aromatic Grilled Beef Hot Pot which blends steakhouse richness with Chinese hot pot tradition. The beef is marinated with a house recipe, grilled until crisp on the outside, and tender inside. We went with a tomato soup base for this one.

The Rich Pork Bone Pot showcased the kind of patience that comes with slow cooking. Chicken, beef, and pork bones simmered for 10 hours produced a creamy, full-bodied broth. The variety of other ingredients gave every bite a different flavour profile. The soup balanced richness with lightness and made the pot feel nourishing.

The Chongqing Noodles with Pea and Meat Sauce Topping brought together peas and a savoury mixed sauce for a bowl that was smooth, comforting, and rooted in traditional spicy, Chongqing flavours.

To finish, the Fried Lava Buns arrived piping hot, with a crisp shell giving way to a molten filling that was indulgent without being too heavy.

Upstairs Hot Pot is located on the second floor of Central Square at 4231 Hazelbridge Wy 270 2nd Floor, Richmond, BC.
