Tourism Ch’illiwack has unveiled The Great Outside, a summer campaign inviting visitors to explore Chilliwack’s vast mix of outdoor adventures, cultural festivals, farm experiences, and guided tours. Located in the Fraser Valley, Chilliwack is positioning itself as a premier destination for nature-forward travel, with diverse programming running through the season.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find a wide range of activities, from hiking at Vedder Mountain and Radium Lake, to road cycling on the Valley Rail Trail and climbing limestone walls at Slesse Creek. Golfers can choose from several courses including Chilliwack Golf Club, Royalwood Golf Course, and The Falls Golf Club, with mini golf available at Giggle Ridge Adventure Golf and Tap-Ins Putting Course. Water recreation is plentiful with rentals available at Cultus Lake Marina and Main Beach Boat Rentals, plus river rafting via Chilliwack River Rafting.
Anglers can take advantage of guided fishing opportunities and the region’s free Rod Rental Program at the Tourism Ch’illiwack Visitor Centre. Birding destinations like Cheam Lake Wetlands and the Great Blue Heron Reserve offer peaceful encounters with local wildlife.
Summer festivals include the Chilliwack Fair from August 8 to 10, and the Chilliwack Mural Festival on August 15 and 16. Greendale Acres will host the Sweet Corn Festival August 2 to 4, while the Chilliwack Flight Festival, Canada’s longest-running free airshow, takes place August 17.
For those interested in food and agriculture, the Chilliwack Circle Farm Tour connects visitors with local growers. Weekly community markets include the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market, Market at the Coliseum, Sardis Park Market, and Yarrow Farm Market, each showcasing regional produce and handmade goods.
Guided tours range from scenic helicopter flights with Librico Helicopters, to local mural walks and food tastings with Chew on This Tasty Tours. Cultural tours at Coqualeetza Grounds and Chilliwack Museum & Archives explore the region’s Indigenous and settler history.
Hands-on learning is available through outdoor classes and workshops including fly casting with Pacific Rivers Outfitters, group bike rides with Sardis Outdoor Rentals, paddleboard lessons with Pure Life Paddle Boards, and nature-based yoga from Wilde Wellness.
