The Yaletown Business Improvement Association has launched Sonder: Life in Lights, a public installation illuminating the neighbourhood with light, art, and narrative through glowing projections that run through January 11, 2026.
This free experience transforms windows, heritage brick, and storefronts along Hamilton and Mainland with scenes that hint at silhouettes and quiet moments. Visitors can follow the route toward Bill Curtis Square where projected snowfall adds to the atmosphere.

Created with Whistler-based studio Best Coast, Sonder: Life in Lights invites people to walk through the neighbourhood’s historic blocks and view projections that appear on facades at street level and on high-rise penthouses. Each stop offers a different vignette that gives a sense of the stories unfolding behind the glass.
A QR code positioned along the route links to a digital map that guides visitors through every projection. Local dining and shopping options line the path which makes it easy to turn the evening into a night out in Yaletown. The installation is free, open daily from 5:00 p.m. through January 11, 2026, throughout the Yaletown Heritage District and waterfront.
