The Sequel Kitchen & Bar is a solid brunch and lunch spot in Downtown Vancouver with a menu that draws from French, Italian, and modern Western influences.

The team behind The Story Café in Richmond is expanding their vision with this new location, where the design combines charcoal-toned walls, wood accents, and a tiled bar. The back dining room features silent films projected onto the wall. The atmosphere feels polished yet approachable, making it equally suited for casual daytime or an evening meal.

The restaurant offers brunch until 2:45 pm with bennies, steak and eggs, duck confit hash, lobster crêpes, fried chicken and waffles, lighter options like avocado toast and smoked salmon bagel, plus sweets such as crepes, pancakes, and tiramisu. Lunch includes Angus beef, chicken, or salmon burgers, a range of pastas from carbonara to seafood linguine and lasagna, along with small plates, fresh salads, and soups.

On my visit, we tried the The Fly Me to the Bennies with smoked salmon. The dish paired soft poached eggs with hollandaise and a crisp English muffin, a simple combination that was well-executed.

The Lobster scramble crêpe leaned more indulgent, filled with lobster and prawn scramble, while the brown butter hollandaise and fish roe deepened the richness.

My favourite was the Beef pappardelle featuring slow-braised short rib over wide ribbons of pasta, along with goat cheese adding a tangy lift to the sauce.

From the bar, we tried the Fawlty Sour, a citrus-driven option, along with an Espresso Martini, a Brunch Caesar and a café latté.

The Sequel offers Coal Harbour a solid dining spot where brunch, lunch, and dinner feel equally inviting. My visit captured a balance of refined presentation and comfort-driven flavours, the kind of place I could see returning to for both casual weekday meals and weekend or evening gatherings.
The Sequel – Kitchen & Bar is located at 1575 W Georgia St, Vancouver, BC.
