Taves Family Farms Fall Activities 2024 Highlights

Taves Family Farms Applebarn is now open for its 34th season. Every fall, local communities visit the farm for a taste of the country to explore over 30 acres of picturesque moments with corn mazes, apple orchards, and pumpkin fields.

Taves Family Farms Fall Activities 2024 Highlights

With varying tree heights, children and adults are invited to pick a variety of apples, including their signature crop, the Jonagold apple. Orchard-to-bottle fresh apple cider is made on-site and is sold in the Country Store, which is also filled with seasonal treats, such as bagged apples, apple pies, and pumpkin butter.

The main highlights are the Pumpkin Patch with Princess Carriage, which holds 13 acres of smaller sugar pumpkins to classic jack-o-lantern pumpkins, and the Magical Fall Pumpkin Garden — a pathway of hundreds of heirloom pastel-coloured pumpkins adorned with a walking bridge, pumpkin hut, and mystical gnomes. Other attractions include the Magical Sunflower Garden, five acres of three corn quest mazes, hayrides, jumping pillows, farm animals to see and pet, a goat bridge where guests can watch the goats wander from one side of the farm to the other, and pedal karts.

The season begins with the Magical Sunflower Garden stealing the show, but on September 27th, it transforms into the Magical Pumpkin Garden. The Pumpkin Patch comes next with its life-sized princess carriage, a photo op that will have visitors embracing their inner child.

While the concessions carry everything from freshly-roasted corn to pumpkin-spiced lattés, food trucks will be available on select dates. At Taves Estate Cidery, guests are invited to spend time in the covered and heated patio area where they can cuddle the goats, sample soft cider, mocktails, cocktails, and seasonal favourites Pete’s Perry, Pete’s Pumpkin Perry, and Charlie’s Pumpkin Cider. Special events include Pup Picnic Days, Candle Making ‘n Sip, and Paint ‘n Sip.

About Taves Family Farms

A third-generation farmer, Loren Taves started farming in the late 1980s. His great grandfather purchased his first plot of land in the 1930s, and his father established Taves Family Farms in 1969, starting with raspberries and poultry. When Loren and his brother graduated from high school, they recognized the potential of niche crops and decided to grow gooseberries and currants. Today, Taves Family Farms consists of 53 acres of land growing greenhouse produce, strawberries, currants, corn, pumpkins, and apple, pear, and plum orchards. With a dream to invite local communities to the farm, Loren and his wife Corinne created the Applebarn.
