Stackhouse Steak Sandwich has expanded with a second Vancouver location, bringing their steakhouse-inspired sandwiches into the Gastown neighbourhood. The concept remains focused and straightforward, centred on Canadian beef and a small selection of sides that complement the mains without distraction.

This new outpost follows their original Davie Village location and continues the same approach under chef-owner Eric Lee, whose French culinary background is reflected in the execution and attention to detail.

What I Tried
Stackhouse Steak Sandwich
This featured medium rare flat iron steak with crispy onion and chimichurri sauce. The steak was tender with a satisfying chew, while the chimichurri added brightness without overpowering the beef. The crispy onions brought a subtle crunch that contrasted nicely with the softness of the bread.

French Dip Sandwich
This included flat iron steak with au jus, horseradish, Swiss cheese, and onion chips. The sandwich had a comforting, savoury profile, with the au jus adding moisture and richness. The horseradish gave a gentle heat and the melted Swiss added a smooth, creamy element.

Steak Tartare Open Sandwich
This was prepared with raw beef, Dijon, crushed capers, parsley, and red onion. The tartare felt balanced and well-seasoned, with the capers and mustard providing contrast to the richness of the beef. Served open-faced, it allowed each component to stand out more clearly.

Caesar Salad
This came with white anchovy, croutons, and housemade dressing. The dressing had a noticeable anchovy presence, giving it a savoury edge, while the croutons added texture. It worked well as a side dish alongside the sandwiches.

French Onion Soup
This featured caramelized onion, Gruyère cheese, crouton, and beef broth. The soup was deeply savoury with a well-developed onion flavour, topped with a layer of melted cheese that added body. The crouton held up well, soaking in the broth without falling apart too quickly.

$4 Breakfast Sandwich, bacon & egg – good value! Available until 12 pm.

This restaurant makes a great spot to grab some food before a hockey game or concert at Rogers Arena.
