Jay Nok Modern Thai is a new restaurant that has opened up at 127 W 2nd Avenue in Vancouver’s Olympic Village. This new dining destination comes from the Kongsilp family, the founders of SalaThai, a restaurant that served the city for nearly 40 years. The menu reinterprets Thai street food with bold flavours, featuring regional dishes crafted for sharing.

Guests can expect dishes like Central Som Tom, a tangy papaya salad with chilli, lime, and peanuts, or Pad Kee Mao, a spicy drunken noodle dish. Dinner options include Oxtail Green Curry, slow-braised for depth of flavour, and Pad Thai Chao Wang, featuring jumbo prawns wrapped in an intricate egg nest. The Chiang Mai Khao Soi (bone marrow curry noodle) offers a rich take on a Northern Thai classic, served with tender spare ribs. A Thai-inspired cocktail program, BC wines, and local craft beers complement the menu.
Owner and Executive Chef Bumpen “Nok” Khangrang, known for her intricate presentations, leads the kitchen alongside award-winning Consulting Chef Clement Chan. His background includes co-founding Torafuku Modern Asian Eatery and leading Archer Dining to MICHELIN Recommended status. The restaurant’s 3,900-square-foot space, designed by Jute Studios, reflects the energy of Bangkok’s street markets with bold colours, natural materials, and eclectic street art.
Jay Nok Modern Thai is open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For updates, visit Jay Nok Modern Thai or follow @jaynokthai on Instagram and Facebook.
