BC Dive Fisheries Society will host the first-ever Divers’ Catch Gala on September 20, 2025, at The Deck at Radisson Blu in Richmond. The event will bring together chefs, dive harvesters, seafood distributors, and the public to celebrate sustainably harvested geoduck, sea urchin, and sea cucumber from British Columbia’s coastal waters.

Tickets are now available, with presale pricing set at $118 for general admission and $88.88 for the Industry Mixer—a pre-gala networking event for seafood professionals.
The gala is presented in partnership with the Pacific Sea Cucumber Harvesters Association, Pacific Urchin Harvesters Association, and the Underwater Harvesters Association. It aims to raise awareness of responsible harvesting practices, where each seafood item is carefully hand-picked by divers, avoiding bycatch and leaving minimal impact on the ocean floor.
An accomplished chef lineup will prepare tasting plates centred around dive-harvested seafood. Featured names include Ned Bell (Hatch Hospitality), Will Lew (Pacific Reach), Bobby Milheron (Homer St. Café and Bar, Maxine’s Café and Bar, Tableau Bar and Bistro), Dez Lo (Luxe), Welbert Choi (F.I.S.H), and Bo Li (The Fish Man), with additional chefs to be announced.
September was selected for the gala to align with the start of the fall dive fishing season, a peak time for sea urchins and sea cucumbers. The event will promote domestic appreciation and demand for seafood often destined for export markets, supporting local economies and reinforcing the value of sustainable sourcing.
