Commercial Drive’s beloved B House Restaurant will bring its unique fusion of Asian inspiration and West Coast flavours and ingredients to a new neighbourhood when it opens a second location in Richmond this fall at 1101-8328 Capstan Way.
Opening later this fall, the new outpost is the second location for B House owners Chef Hung Nguyenand wife Vy Tran, who opened their original location in October of 2020 and quickly earned a following thanks to their creative takes on Asian fusion cuisine and ‘guest-first’ focus.
A number of guest favourites from the Commercial Drive menu will be mainstays on the menu at the Richmond location — like the Green Papaya Salad, Bang Bang Shrimp, Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup and Vegan Organic Tofu, Yellowfin Tuna and Pork Belly Bowls — but new dishes will also make their debut, including:
- Red Curry Mussels (West Coast mussels, fennel, fresh herbs, Thai coconut red curry, toast);
- Jumbo Shrimp Fresh Salad Roll (breaded shrimp tossed in Cajun spice, spicy aioli, brown rice paper, organic greens, asparagus, carrot, harissa aioli, peanut sauce, pineapple salsa, fried lotus root);
- Firecracker Jumbo Red Shrimp (1/2 pound of jumbo red shrimp in garlic chili butter sauce, marinated tomato, toast);
- 5 Spice Beef Noodle Soup (14-hour braised beef shank, rice noodles, bok choy, bean sprouts, fresh herbs, chili flakes, 5 spice broth);
- Seafood with Squid Ink Pasta (grilled steelhead salmon, shrimp, squid ink pasta in creamy rosé sauce, vegetables, chili flakes, fresh herbs, cheese);
- Thai Red Curry with Chicken Leg (crispy skin chicken leg, spiced Thai red curry with bok choy, roasted yam, lychee, pineapple, tomato, fresh Thai basil, cilantro, side rice, crispy garlic);
At the bar, guests can order from a list that includes some of BC’s best craft beer, an array of classic and contemporary cocktails, unique wines hailing from some of BC’s top vineyards, and zero-proof beverages and non-alcoholic libations.
No stranger to the diverse array of inspiration and seasonal ingredients that exists in Vancouver’s vibrant dining scene, Nguyen sharpened his skills at The Boathouse, Joey’s and Milestones before helming the culinary team as Head Chef at Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar for five years prior to opening B House Restaurant at 2270 Commercial Drive in 2020.
The new Richmond edition of B House Restaurant will offer seating for 45 guests, and, like its first location on Commercial Drive, open daily for lunch, dinner and happy hour service with brunch items also available until 3PM for dine-in, takeout and delivery via Door Dash.
