Mui Ngo Gai on Kingsway has launched lunch service, offering Vietnamese and Singaporean dishes in a casual and approachable setting. I visited during their lunch hours and tried a mix of noodle soups, rice plates, and small dishes.


What I Tried
The duck and bamboo shoot rice vermicelli soup had a light, savoury duck broth with tender meat and crunchy bamboo.

The beef carpaccio was made with raw AAA beef, dressed with lime, herbs, roasted peanuts, and crispy shallots—fresh and tangy.

The chicken lotus root salad combined shredded chicken with sliced lotus root, white fungus, carrots, onions, and herbs for a crunchy and refreshing dish.

There was also a delicious tangy duck salad.

Rice options include lemongrass chicken or pork chop, both flame-grilled and served with a fried egg over rice.


The special beef pho had rare beef, brisket, meatballs, and rice noodles in a clean, slow-simmered broth.


The spring roll featured whole prawn wrapped in a wonton skin.

I also tried their house drink, Old but Gold, made with lime soda, cherry syrup, and mint.

If your birthday is in April or May, your age becomes your discount. For example, if you’re turning 60, you get 60 percent off the entire table’s bill. The offer applies to the birthday menu only (sides and crab not included). There’s also up to 30 percent off crab and drinks.
Valid ID required. Reservations must be made at least three days in advance. Dining slots are 5pm, 7pm, or 9pm. Weekend bookings receive 10 percent less off the discount total.
