Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebrations are bringing colour and culture to Vancouver’s dining scene this season. Local restaurants are blending festive energy with authentic Mexican flavours, offering themed dinners, live music, and immersive experiences that capture the heart of both holidays.
La Taqueria joins forces with Tourism Burnaby for two lively events at their Brentwood and Yukon Street locations. On October 31, La Taqueria Brentwood hosts a Halloween Night party featuring DJ Duncan, a costume contest with a $200 gift card prize, and a one-night-only Smoked Berries Margarita. The celebrations continue on November 2 with a Día de los Muertos event featuring a traditional altar (Ofrenda de Día de Muertos) and special dishes such as Pan de Muerto with Mexican Hot Chocolate, Panuchos de Cochinita Pibil, and Pollo con Mole. At Comedor by La Taqueria on Yukon Street, guests can enjoy a Black Soul Margarita on Halloween and the Pan de Muerto Duo on Día de los Muertos.
Ophelia in Olympic Village hosts a one-night-only Día de los Muertos Dinner on Thursday, October 30. Chef Francisco Higareda’s multi-course prix fixe menu ($80) pays tribute to his Mexican heritage with dishes like Kumamoto Oyster & Caviar, Sope de Huitlacoche, Tuna Tostada, Short Rib Mole, and Oaxaca Chocolate Cake. The evening begins with a Margarita de los Muertos welcome cocktail and includes traditional décor, live music, and a Halloween Costume Contest for guests.
At Fairmont Pacific Rim, Día de los Muertos takes centre stage on Saturday, November 1, when Botanist presents an immersive six-course cocktail-paired dinner led by Executive Chef Hector Laguna in collaboration with José Luis Hinostroza of Tulum’s acclaimed ARCA (No. 32 on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants). The celebration continues on Sunday, November 2 at The Lobby Lounge & RawBar with a pop-up event featuring a curated cocktail menu by the ARCA team, live music, and themed entertainment.
