Daan Go Cake Lab, founded by MasterChef Canada winner Christopher Siu, will open a new South Granville location on August 15, marking their second shop in British Columbia.

The bakery is known for artistic cakes shaped like ramen bowls, bubble tea and more along with macarons, pastries, and inventive ice cream flavours such as mango passionfruit gelato and vegan black sesame.
Located at 1450 West 7th Ave, the shop’s grand opening from August 15 to 17 will feature 20 percent off all menu items; a complimentary box of character macarons for the first 50 customers with purchase; and a meet-and-greet with Christopher Siu.

This location will also debut a drink menu created in collaboration with Fresh Press Coffee Bar, including Mango Matcha Cream, Strawberry Matcha Cream, Uni Matcha Latte, Hojicha Latte, smoothies, and espresso drinks.

At a media tasting, we tried the Strawberry Fields Cake, which layers light matcha chiffon with airy matcha chantilly, creamy strawberry and yogurt filling, and strawberry preserves infused with acacia honey. I absolutely loved the poppy seed matcha croquantine which added a gentle crunch.

The Firma dessert pairs a chocolate almond sponge with a smooth salted caramel centre and dark chocolate mousse, finished with crunchy chocolate rocks and a whimsical cactus made of malt milk mousse.

We also enjoyed a flaky, buttery Chocolate Croissant and a refreshing Strawberry Matcha Cream drink.

The original Richmond store remains open, with South Granville becoming the brand’s newest addition to BC’s dessert scene.
