Best Fortune is a family-owned and operated, independent Sichuan restaurant located on Richmond’s Alexandra’s Road.
On the menu are authentic Sichaun dishes, hot pots, cold pot skewers, and more.
Here’s a look at what we tried on our lunch visit.
Best Fortune offers Sichuan-style cold pot skewers which are cooked by the chef, infused with spices, and served in a cold seasoned broth for a richer flavour.
We got the Skewers Beef Tripe, Beef Aorta, Shrimp, Fish Tofu, Lotus Root, Shitake Mushrooms, Cauliflower, and King Oyster Mushrooms.
Their authentic Sichuan dishes are prepared with made-from-scratch spice blends.
We enjoyed the Crispy Fried Pork Strips which were super crispy on the outside, spicy and tender on the inside.
The Spicy Clams with Chicken is a popular dish and it’s very spicy and flavourful.
I loved their version of my favourite Sichuan dish, Fish Flavoured Shredded Pork. This was sweet and spicy.
We also a large and very shareable Spicy Boiling Fish.
There was also Wonton with Chili Oil Soup; Fish in Chili Oil Bowl and Beef Noodle Soup.
We finished off some some bing fen to cool off from the spiciness.
While the restaurant specializes in spicy dishes, they are happy to accommodate mild and nonspicy palates.
