Celebrate BC will launch its inaugural event on August 4 at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam, marking BC Day with a province-wide tribute to cultural heritage, Indigenous traditions, and community connection. The free one-day festival is hosted by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., in collaboration with the City of Coquitlam and guided by the Kwikwetlem First Nation.

Anchoring the day’s activities will be the largest salmon barbecue in British Columbia’s history, with 2,000 pounds of wild salmon prepared on-site by chefs from across the province. The barbecue is hosted by the Kwikwetlem First Nation and serves as a tribute to BC’s coastal identity and Indigenous culinary traditions.
Other festival highlights include a curated Indigenous fashion show presented by Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week, and a live music lineup headlined by Juno Award-winning artist George Leach. A Heritage Walk will offer timelines and exhibits from Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Chinese, and Indigenous communities, creating a space for storytelling across cultures.
A BC Wine Garden and Best of BC Pavilion will showcase local food, art, and talent, while on-site activities such as a zipline adventure and Indigenous storytelling sessions aim to engage attendees of all ages.
Celebrate BC is envisioned as an annual gathering that reflects the province’s evolving cultural landscape through food, music, and shared experiences. The event is free and open to all, with detailed programming and performance schedules to be released in the coming weeks.
