Old Vines Restaurant Celebrates 25 Years in the Okanagan

Old Vines Restaurant at Quails’ Gate is marking 25 years as a leader in British Columbia’s winery dining scene. Located in West Kelowna, the restaurant first opened in 1999 with a modest patio overlooking Okanagan Lake. Over the past two and a half decades, it has become a benchmark for garden-to-table cuisine, grounded in seasonal cooking and long-standing relationships with local producers.

Guided by the Stewart family’s vision, the restaurant has grown alongside the region, helping shape West Kelowna’s culinary identity. Their commitment to hospitality, agriculture, and sustainability continues to define the experience at Old Vines, from the warm service to the flavours on the plate.

Executive Chef Roger Sleiman, recently named a 2025 BC Restaurant Hall of Fame inductee, has played a defining role in creating a distinctive Okanagan cooking style. Known for partnerships with growers such as Paynter’s Market, Wise Earth Farms, and 63 Acres, Chef Sleiman’s approach has always prioritized simplicity, seasonality, and trust. Dishes like Yarrow Farm Game Hen, 63 Acres Beef Ribeye, and seasonal preparations of line-caught fish reflect this philosophy.

The restaurant’s 25th anniversary includes a rotating selection of nostalgic menu items, such as the Roasted Spring Salmon with pommes anna, Armstrong asparagus, Okanagan morel mushrooms, and garden sorrel cream. This commemorative offering highlights both Old Vines’ legacy and its continued connection to regional ingredients.

The celebration also introduces several limited-edition features, including house-made Vineyard Honey, seasonal Preservatory Projects like quince paste and fermented cherries, and an upcoming Culinary Reunion event featuring alumni chefs. Full event details and reservations are available at Quails’ Gate.

Old Vines is open daily for brunch, lunch, and dinner, offering views of the vineyards and lake. Guests are encouraged to reserve in advance, especially during the anniversary season.
