Instacart Launches the Lie Pie for Thanksgiving in Canada

Instacart has introduced a limited-edition Thanksgiving dessert with a twist: the Lie Pie, a ready-made pumpkin pie packaged as a homemade creation kit. The playful concept is available from October 7 to 9 in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto for a $20 donation to Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization. Each purchase helps provide 25 Thanksgiving meals to families in need.

The kit arrives with a fresh pumpkin pie and several accessories designed to sell the illusion of home baking. Inside the box are a packet of pumpkin purée for smearing on an apron, a packet of flour to dust across the counter, a few crushed eggshells, a handwritten recipe card labelled “Grandma’s,” and a pumpkin-scented room spray. Together, these elements create a convincing scene of effort in the kitchen without the hours of preparation.

Orders can be placed through www.liepie.ca, with limited quantities available for delivery on October 11 or 12. The Lie Pie supports Second Harvest’s work in redistributing surplus food to more than 5,000 nonprofit and charity partners across Canada.

The launch reflects Instacart’s ongoing commitment to making holiday hosting easier for Canadians, whether through last-minute grocery deliveries or fresh desserts ready to serve. The Lie Pie serves as a tongue-in-cheek reminder that shortcuts can still be sweet.

Instacart sent me a Lie Pie and I enjoyed unpacking it and styling it! It was also delicious.
