The culinary and art realms collide in creative ways when Honey Salt Executive Chef Johann Caner welcomes renowned French artist Lucas Beaufort for an Art-Dinner Series at the dining destination located in the Downtown entertainment hotspot Parq Vancouver (39 Smithe St.) on Wednesday, May 8.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the dinner will feature a six-course feast for the senses from Caner and his culinary team with optional wine pairings as Beaufort creates a 40-piece multi-canvas masterpiece before the eyes of his guests. Standard tickets to the event are $85 per person plus tax and gratuity, with Premium tickets available for $195, which includes an original piece created on the night of the event for guests to take home and hang on their wall or add to their own art collection.
Caner — who earned his culinary stripes at Lycée Professionnel Notre-Dame in his home country of France and sharpened his skills at fine-dining establishments throughout Europe before bringing his unique sense of hospitality and expertise to Canada — has created a menu for the evening that evokes his philosophy of showcasing the best fresh, local ingredients from BC farms, fields and fisheries.
Beaufort is a painter, illustrator, filmmaker, photographer and skate-culture icon who hails from Cannes, France and whose vibrant, colourful work is inextricably linked to his abiding passions for street art and skateboarding. He is known for creating massive wall-sized canvases (often featuring his totemic bird character ‘Gus Gus’, which symbolizes the artist’s philosophy of peace and tolerance) and painting the world he sees in iconic, eccentric, and alternative brushstrokes that make an indelible impression on viewer and creator alike.
