Hendricks Resto-Lounge offers a contemporary dining experience inside the Hilton Vancouver Downtown, overlooking Library Square. The room feels polished yet relaxed, setting the tone for a menu built around modern plates with familiar West Coast influences.
The meal began with the Bread Basket, which delivered a thoughtful mix of textures. Grilled focaccia arrived with crisp edges; garlic and cilantro naan stayed soft with light char; and the dinner rolls were warm and airy. Kalamata olive tapenade brought a salty richness that tied everything together and encouraged a few extra bites.
The Hendricks Flatbread followed as a well-balanced vegetarian option. Mushrooms and arugula sat on a thin, crisp base, layered with garlic cream sauce that added richness without weighing the flatbread down. A drizzle of balsamic reduction introduced contrast and kept each slice lively.
There was also the Calamari, which featured crispy, buttermilk-marinated squid rings and tentacles in a gochujang aioli.
Pasta came next with the Seafood Rigatoni, one of the more indulgent dishes of the evening. Salmon, prawns, and scallops were cooked with care and held their shape, coated evenly in a creamy pomodoro sauce that felt generous but controlled. Lemon whipped ricotta added brightness, and the crunchy pangrattato on top brought welcome texture. Grilled focaccia on the side made it easy to capture the remaining sauce.
The Steak Oscar stayed true to the classic. An eight-ounce New York steak arrived medium rare as requested, topped with butter-poached crab that added richness without overwhelming the beef. Herb and garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and full flavoured, paired with seasonal vegetables that kept the plate balanced.
Dessert ended the meal on a comforting note with the Apple Galette. The pastry was golden and crisp, the apples tender with restrained sweetness, and the rum salted caramel gelato provided a cool contrast to the warm fruit.
The evening included the Hendricks 75, a cocktail that leaned fresh and lightly floral with citrus notes. A cucumber ribbon added a clean finish that worked well alongside the food.
