Glowbal Restaurant Group’s Coast is setting the stage for National Oyster Day by offering Buck-A-Shuck Oysters during Happy Hour throughout August and hosting an all-star event featuring some of the city’s best half-shell shuckers on Thursday, August 1 at the iconic downtown dining destination (1054 Alberni Street, Vancouver).

The shuck-off serves as a lead-up to National Oyster Day on Monday, August 5 and gathers all-star shuckers including Coast’s Chung Le, Oscar Galdamez, Bar Olo’s Axel Ayala-Smith and Italian Kitchen’s Sara Isobel to showcase their skills at the Coast main bar at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to cheer on the shuckers, winner takes home $1,000 cash.
For the entire month of August, Coast will showcase freshly shucked West Coast and East Coast oysters on the half shell for just a buck served with classic cocktail sauce, fresh horseradish and lemon during their daily Happy Hour menu from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., which also features:
- Crab Dip (artichoke & crab, forno bread) 14
- Two Fish & Chip Cones (tempura cod, Japanese tartar sauce) 10
- Truffle Fries (Parmesan, truffle aioli) 10
- Calamari (cilantro, buttermilk chive aioli) 13
- Hamachi Crudo (daikon, ponzu, serrano, yuzu dressing) 13
- Torched Salmon Oshi (shiso, sesame, tartar sauce, sweet soy) 12
- Wagyu Beef Carpaccio (horseradish aioli, capers, arugula, Parmesan, crostini) 16
- ½ Pound Mussels (red curry, garlic bread) 13
- Tiger Prawn Cocktail (cocktail sauce, lemon) 14
- Negitoro Hand Roll (Albacore tuna, cucumber, scallion) 10
- Mini Lobster & Prawn Roll (coleslaw) 10
- Salmon Flatbread (smoked salmon, mascarpone, capers, arugula) 16
Coast’s new summer menu also features prix-fixe lunch and dinner options for $39 and $65 per person plus tax and gratuity, respectively, that showcase the bounty of BC’s farms, fields and ocean in Coast’s signature creative culinary fashion.
The two-course lunch menu is available from 11:30 a.m. offers a choice of New England Clam Chowder, Chef’s Choice Oysters, Torched Sablefish Oshi, Salmon Flatbread (+5), Burrata Salad (+8) or Westcoast Crab Cake (+10) as starters and Seafood Linguine, Halibut Fish & Chips, Lobster & Prawn Roll, Roasted Salmon (+8) or Steak Frites (+10) as an entrée.
Coast’s three-course prix-fixe dinner menu includes a choice of appetizer that includes Chef’s Choice Oysters, Caesar Salad, New England Clam Chowder, Burrata Salad (+5), Wagyu Beef Carpaccio (+7) or Westcoast Crab Cake (+10), entrée selections such as Roasted Salmon, Forno-Roasted Chicken, Halibut Fish & Chips, Hokkaido Scallops, Lobster & Prawn Carbonara (+10) and Prime New York Steak (+15) and a choice of Vanilla Crème Brûlée or New York Cheesecake with raspberry couils for dessert.
