Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill & Enoteca has officially been recognized as one of The 50 Best Italian Restaurants in the World 2023.

Headed by founder-owner Chef Giuseppe “Pino” Posteraro, Cioppino’s is one of only two establishments in Canada to receive the award.
Cioppino’s latest honour comes from 50 Top Italy – a respected online guide created by LSDM, the International Congress of gourmet cooking, and Luciano Pignataro Wine&Food Blog.
50 Top Italy is an authoritative source of Italian cuisine, with its annual Top 50 ranking acknowledging exceptional dining establishments outside of Italy.
Da Vittorio in Shanghai was named the Best Italian Restaurant in the World for 2023. Second place went to Toronto’s Don Alfonso in 1890, while third was awarded to Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Tokyo.
The 50 Top Italy awards ceremony – the “Gran Galà della Cucina Italiana” – took place at Teatro San Babila in Milan in December 2022.
The 50 Top Italy recognition comes on the heels of Cioppino’s being awarded 3 Forchette (3 Forks) by Gambero Rosso, a global certifier of the Best of Italy.
The 3 Forchette is the organization’s highest honour for the Best Fine-Dining Italian Restaurants abroad.
Cioppino’s is the only Vancouver restaurant on Gambero Rosso’s list and one of only two Canadian dining establishments included in a total of 30.
Chef Pino was also honoured with the Guardian of Tradition Award by Gambero Rosso.
Among Chef Pino’s other cherished accolades to date came in 2018, when the culinary visionary was named a Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy.
Chef Pino was the first chef in Canada to be bestowed the award designated by Italy’s president.
The knighthood recognizes individuals who promote Italian prestige and relations internationally.
