Chupito Brings Iconic Yellow Shipping Container to Mount Pleasant

Chupito Cocteleria has brought its iconic yellow shipping container to Mount Pleasant, recreating the backyard patio experience that helped establish the Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognized cocktail bar in Gastown.

The patio opened June 20, 2026, behind Chupito’s current home at 2450 Yukon Street. The shipping container once served as the centrepiece of the original hidden patio and now returns as part of the bar’s fifth anniversary celebrations.

Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez have created a seasonal, highball-focused cocktail menu with an emphasis on low-waste ingredients. Drinks include the Piña y Coco with rum, sherry, pineapple, coconut, lime and ginger, and the Manzanilla with vermouth, sherry and mango pit cordial.

The menu also features low-intervention wines, beer and rotating alcoholic and non-alcoholic popsicles served as a complimentary chupito for arriving guests.

Executive Chef Maria Ponce’s seafood-focused food menu draws inspiration from the coastal regions of Mexico. Offerings include Tostada de Atún, Tostada de Pulpo, Tostada de Aguachile, Plato de Mariscos, freshly shucked oysters, Pollo Asado and Pescado a la Talla.

Weekend Carne Asada will bring the atmosphere of a Mexican backyard barbecue to the Mount Pleasant patio every Saturday and Sunday.

The patio operates Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is weather dependent.
