Hospitality heavyweights from Brassneck Brewery and Maenam Restaurant have joined forces to create ‘Khanoon O’Clock’ Jackfruit IPA (6.5% ABV).
Featuring Citra and Sabro hops plus a ludicrous amount of canned jackfruit, Khanoon O’Clock is a refreshing IPA delivering a mosaic of tropical flavours and aromas.
This special collaborative release is available exclusively on the menus at Maenam (938 West 4th Avenue) and Brassneck (2148 Main Street) in Vancouver, and to go in 473 mL tall cans at the brewery’s retail shop.
Brassneck’s lead brewer, Jeff Leake, added 480 cans of jackfruit to a base of barley and oats, plus Thiolized yeast for aromatics, and some choice hops to create a balanced fruit IPA. Ripe mango, apple, and banana are evident on the nose, while bright citrus and hint of creamy coconut coat the palate.
But don’t be fooled, the clean and hoppy IPA characteristics of this noteworthy beer do not get lost in the fruit.
In celebration of the inaugural Vancouver Brewers Fest happening now, Maenam is also featuring a Brassneck beer pairing ($28) from April 25th to 30th.
Chef/owner Angus An and resident wine expert Kurtis Kolt have hand-picked six distinctive Brassneck beers, including the new jackfruit IPA, to pair with An’s seasonal multi-course Chef’s Menu.
Priced at $88 per person, Maenam’s Chef’s Menus are curated for family-style sharing and include eleven dishes served over five courses.
