April brings a full calendar of culinary experiences across Metro Vancouver and beyond. From cherry blossom-themed drinks to regional tasting menus and hands-on food workshops, here’s what’s happening this month.

The Flying Pig – “Oh Canada” Menu Launch

Starting April 2, The Flying Pig introduces a new rotating menu highlighting Canadian ingredients. Dishes include Golden Fried BC Oysters, PEI Mussels with Spicy Frites, Fraser Valley Game Hen, and BC Ling Cod with Local Prawn Risotto. Finish with Quebec Maple Sugar Pie and sip on the Okanagan Sunrise cocktail. The wine list focuses on BC wineries including Monte Creek and Burrowing Owl.

Honey Salt – Art Dinner Series with Deville

On April 3, Honey Salt at Parq Casino presents a four-course art-inspired dinner paired with BC wines. Chef Johann Caner’s menu includes Shrimp & Black Garlic Dumplings and Wagyu Beef Cheek, with artist Deville creating a live work that will be auctioned in support of Growing Chefs! Tickets are $95 (plus $45 for optional wine pairings).

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar – Oyster Shucking 101

On April 3, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar hosts a workshop for women and gender-non-conforming participants, led by Malindi Taylor and Girls That Shuck. Learn to shuck a dozen oysters, sample several varieties, and take home your own shucking knife and swag.

Ophelia – Oaxaca Regional Menu

Through April 6, Ophelia in Olympic Village serves a three-course menu ($60) showcasing Oaxacan cuisine. Dishes include a Tlayuda with beef tasajo and refried beans, Short Rib en Mole Negro, and Oaxacan Chocolate Flan. Suggested pairings include a Mezcal Species Flight or Oaxacan Sunset cocktail.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse – Art of Teppanyaki

Offered Monday to Thursday until May 31, Kobe is featuring a $58 prix-fixe teppanyaki menu with Tiger Prawns, Sirloin Steak, Teriyaki Chicken, and Artisanal Gelato, all prepared tableside with theatrical flair.

The Teahouse – Mission Hill Wine Dinner

On April 25, The Teahouse hosts a five-course pairing dinner with Mission Hill’s Reserve wines. Courses include Sablefish Cakes, Salmon Wellington, Beef Striploin, and Lemon Meringue Pie with 2017 Icewine.

Dine Chilliwack – April 11 to 27

Tourism Chilliwack presents prix-fixe menus, two-for-one deals, and a dining passport redeemable for tickets to Sweet Spring at Greendale Acres. Participating restaurants include Fortitude Wine Bar, Hugo’s Mexican Kitchen, and The Lakeside Beach Club.

The Victor – Sakura Festival Menu

Through April 23, The Victor at Parq celebrates cherry blossom season with Kyoto Matcha Biru, the Sakura Club cocktail, and a menu featuring Cherry Blossom Roll, Chilean Sea Bass, and Sakura Matcha Mousse Cake.

Sweet 7 – Cherry Blossom Festival Drinks

Until April 27, Sweet 7’s Vancouver and Richmond locations are offering seasonal drinks: Strawberry Coconut Bliss with coconut milk jelly, and Strawberry Coconut Candy with strawberry cheese foam and fresh fruit.

Fable Diner – Cherry-Inspired Beverages

Through April 30, Fable Diner on West Broadway is featuring cherry-themed drinks: the Cherry Mimosa, Cherry Bourbon Sour, and Cherry Milkshake with pink vanilla whip.
