Las Tortas Mexican Gourmet Sandwiches is a neighbourhood restaurant on Main Street serving casual Mexican comfort food. The restaurant is known for their Mexican sandwiches, along with tacos, enchiladas and other familiar dishes.
Here’s what we tried.
There was the Al Pastor Torta with marinated pork and pineapple. The pork was well seasoned with some charred edges, and the pineapple added a little sweetness. There was quite a bit packed into the soft roll, including shredded cabbage and tomatoes. It was filling, messy and well-enjoyed.
The Green Chicken Enchilada came covered in green sauce and melted cheese. The sauce was tangy, and the tortillas were soft from soaking it in. This was warm and comforting, especially with the rice and beans on the side.
We tried the Fish Tacos featuring pan-fried fish tasted light with a nicely seasoned and crisp exterior. There was cabbage and pico de gallo on top, and I added a squeeze of lime.
We started the meal with Tortilla Chips, Salsa and Guacamole. The chips were crisp and lightly salted.
To finish, we had the Buñuelos (half-moon shaped pieces of fried dough). These were warm and crisp with cinnamon sugar on the outside.
The Jamaica (hibiscus) was cold, tart and refreshing. It went especially well with the al pastor torta.
