Li’s Chinese Restaurant is a recent addition to Kerrisdale, taking over the former Lok’s Chinese Restaurant space and continuing the neighbourhood’s tradition of casual, family-friendly Chinese dining.
The menu focuses on familiar comfort dishes, combining Cantonese staples with a small selection of Chongqing-style items. The setting is relaxed and approachable, suited to everyday meals rather than special occasions.
One of their signature dishes is the Sticky Rice With Chicken. The rice is steamed, then deep fried until the outside turns golden and crisp. Inside, the rice stays warm and chewy, filled with chicken and slices of Chinese sausage. The textures are clear and satisfying, and the dish works well as a shared plate.
The Fried Pigeon arrived with crisp skin and juicy meat. It is served simply, allowing the flavour of the pigeon to stand on its own without extra garnish. This dish feels confident and straightforward.
To balance the meal, we ordered the Stir-Fried Vegetables, cooked just until tender and lightly seasoned. It adds a lighter option to the table and helps round out the richer dishes.
We finished with Bing Fen (Ice Jelly), a cool and lightly sweet dessert that provides a refreshing close to the meal.
Li’s Chinese Restaurant fits easily into the Kerrisdale dining scene, offering familiar Chinese comfort food in a relaxed setting that feels easy to return to.
