The Cafe by Elysees Cafe & Bakery is a small spot in Burnaby serving comfort food and drinks in a quiet, relaxed setting.

The menu includes soups, sandwiches, pastries, and a solid lineup of drinks.

The Cafe is chef-owned and operated by Diego Delgado who also owns Elysee Cafe & Pastry and Miso Taco.

One of my favourites is the Thai Chicken Soup, made with a creamy coconut broth and a touch of heat.

The Chicken Torta is layered with grilled chicken, sauce, and fresh vegetables on a soft bun.

For breakfast, the sandwich with fluffy eggs, gruyere, tomato, and your choice of ham, bacon, or avocado is a solid pick.

The Cucumber and Hummus Sandwich is a fresh, lighter option, and the Caesar Salad is crisp and well-balanced with a punchy dressing

On the sweet side, the apricot danish is tangy; the almond croissant is buttery with a crisp edge; and the brownie is rich and dense.

I also tried a smooth latte made with Caffe Umbria beans, a mango ice matcha, and a strawberry iced tea.

The Cafe is located at 3711 Eastlake Drive in Burnaby.
