Bow & Stern Brentwood has opened their patio at The Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby, bringing a fresh way to enjoy ocean-inspired dining in Burnaby. The sun-filled space is a natural fit for summer, with plenty of seafood, cocktails, and a laid-back West Coast atmosphere. I attended a media tasting where I had the chance to try many of their summer menu dishes.
The Signature Chilled Seafood Tower is a popular choice layered high with oysters, jumbo prawn cocktail, Atlantic lobster, crab, tuna tataki, and the Bow & Stern sushi roll; it shows off the best of land and sea on one platter.
The House-made Ceviche was bright and refreshing, with citrus curing the seafood to a tender finish.
The East Coast Lobster Dip is comforting, combining lobster, mozzarella, and white cheddar, baked under toasted garlic bread crumbs and served with corn tortilla chips for scooping.
The Seared Tuna Nicoise Salad balanced silky ahi tuna with crisp green beans, herb-roasted potatoes, heirloom tomato, olives, and a soft boiled egg, tied together by a white balsamic vinaigrette.
The Hot Seafood Platter felt like a feast, with Arctic char, tiger prawns, lobster, mussels, and clams in a white wine cream sauce, paired with seasonal vegetables and jasmine rice.
The Lobster and Prawn Mac and Cheese was indulgent, loaded with lobster and Argentinian red prawns in a lobster bisque cheese sauce, finished with a golden herb crumb.
Dessert was just as memorable. Gramma D’s Carrot Cake came with cream cheese frosting and candied pecans for texture. The Warm Chocolate Lava Cake was gluten-free, with molten chocolate spilling into raspberry gel and vanilla ice cream. The Crème Brûlée Cheesecake blended creamy New York cheesecake with caramelized sugar and seasonal fruit.
Bow & Stern’s Brentwood patio captures the ease of summer dining, where seafood towers and share plates feel just right with a chilled glass of wine. Head Chef Mario Ruiz brings a refined touch to West Coast ingredients, making each dish approachable yet layered with flavour.
