The Spring Weirdening Brings Art and Oddities to Mount Pleasant

Weirdos Market is introducing a new seasonal twist to its popular annual gathering with The Spring Weirdening, happening Sunday, June 8 from 12 PM to 7 PM at The Birdhouse, a queer-run event space in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

The Spring Weirdening Brings Art and Oddities to Mount Pleasant

Organized by Rachel Zottenberg, this spring edition builds on the spirit of the long-running December Weirdos Holiday Market. The upcoming event will feature more than 30 artists selling original and offbeat works including pottery, embroidery, jewellery, ritual candles, and mounted insects. Attendees can expect a mix of handmade items and unconventional finds from returning vendors.

The venue will host activities both indoors and out. Guests can play games like giant Jenga and Connect Four, browse artist tables throughout the venue, and relax in lounge areas with retro video games and couches.

Programming includes a live performance by sword swallower Neil E. Dee and a DJ set by Jody Glenham. Food will be available from Midnight Joe’s Food Truck and dessert options come from Punk Rock Pastries.

Admission is $2 before 2 PM and $5 after. The event is open to all ages and friendly dogs are welcome.
