The Cup at Hastings Racecourse Vancouver returning July 23

The Cup (formerly Deighton Cup) returns to Hastings Racecourse on July 23, this year launching an expanded lineup of top-tier food and beverage options for the 10,000 expected attendees.

Previously, the annual event has featured one or two food suppliers at a time however this year’s event boasts over 10 different local companies, including restaurants, chefs and bartenders, along with food and beverage brands, all contributing to a one-of-a-kind, premium culinary event experience.

After a two-year hiatus, event organizers saw an opportunity to support the local food and beverage industry by bringing in a number of talented partners for inventive pop-ups.

Say Hello to Risotto Party

Risotto Party is a new concept by Chef Alessandro Vianello, premiering at The Cup. There will be meat, seafood and vegetarian options available and each dish is best enjoyed with a glass of champagne for the ultimate flavour combination. Risotto Party will be available in the Concourse as well as the pre-order food option for the Grandstand Suites.

Keep it 100 with Hundy and Castello Cheese

Burger fanatics can rejoice with one of the city’s best burger joints serving up an exclusive Cheeseburger complete with Castello Black Pepper Cheddar, topped with a Salt and Vinegar Onion Ring, Apple Horseradish Aioli and Shaved Lettuce. The regular option comes with a beef burger however there will be a vegetarian option available. This pop-up will be located in the Concourse.

Rosé All Day with the Roaming Dog Rosé Garden

Attendees can sip the day away in the Roaming Dog Rosé Garden as they admire everyone’s extravagant outfits and size up their competition for the Style Stakes prize. Rosé from Roaming Dog will be flowing along with other pink-hued wines and bubbly options.

The Julep Experience

Watch as the bartenders from four iconic Vancouver restaurants show off their take on a Mint Julep – a classic derby cocktail. Each local bartender will be equipped with a different iconic bourbon: Emily Binks from The Pawn Shop is paired with Yellowstone Select, Magna Carter from Cold Tea Restaurant is paired with Elijah Craig Small Batch, Mike Arthur from The Parlour is paired with Rebel Bourbon and Ted Wilkie from Hotel Belmont is paired with Evan Williams. It will be up to attendees to determine the best Mint Julep of the bunch.

Trackside Eats with Blank Canvas Catering

As a division of The Joseph Richard Group, you can expect nothing but the best from Blank Canvas Catering who will be serving up a divine menu at the Trackside Suites. Guests can choose from options including fancy hot dogs, finger sandwiches, bowls, cheese boards, charcuterie boards and chicken sandwiches.

Cantina Time with The Pawn Shop

The Pawn Shop is an East LA inspired taco and tequila bar located in downtown Vancouver. With a pop-up in the Concourse at The Cup, the team will be serving their iconic OG Tacos and guests can enjoy both meat and vegetarian options served alongside chips, salsa and guacamole. 

No Need to Be Salty with Salty’s Lobster Shack

A taste of the East Coast makes its way to the Concourse at The Cup. Vancouver food truck, Salty’s Lobster Shack, will be slinging their Maine Lobster Rolls and premium Wild Sturgeon Caviar Rolls all day long. Each option is served on a bed of Ketchup and All Dressed chips.

Greek Nostalgia with Loula’s Taverna & Bar

As one of Vancouver’s newest Greek restaurants, Loula’s Taverna & Bar has an irresistible menu to offer The Cup attendees. The team has crafted dishes inspired by the Greek nostalgia of their upbringing infused with the modern dining trends seen today. On the Concourse at The Cup, guests can get a taste of a Chicken Souvlaki Plate, a Spanakopita Plate or a Mini Seafood Platter featuring shrimp, octopus and tobiko. 

Feel Good with Nuba

As a Vancouver staple with multiple locations around the city, one simply can’t go wrong with any item from Nuba – serving up feel-good Lebanese food. The team will be offering their Najib’s Special Bowl and Falafel Bowl as vegan options for attendees on the Concourse. 

Chalets, Cocktails & Canapés

Vancouver’s premier catering company will be serving up a menu of exquisite eats for the sold out Trackside Chalets this year. After launching in 2013, Cocktails & Canapés has established itself as a trendsetter and leader in Western Canada offering exceptional, immersive and highly innovative hospitality experiences. Guests can enjoy everything from oysters to rotating snack boards featuring local Two Rivers meat and BC prawns to sliders and salads. 

The Cup is set to be Vancouver’s most fashionable event of the summer, attracting both local and international guests for a day filled with the finest outfits, live music from k-os and Felix Cartal, local art, rousing derby action and of course the best food and drinks. It will take place at Hastings Racecourse, 188 North Renfrew Street, Vancouver from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
