Latincouver is bringing Latin American Heritage Month to Metro Vancouver from October 14 to November 2, 2026, with 27 events featuring more than 340 artists, speakers and facilitators. The eighth annual celebration includes music, visual arts, food, workshops and community gatherings at venues across Vancouver and Burnaby.

The 20-day program will take place at locations including Granville Island, Gastown, UBC and The Amazing Brentwood. This year’s theme, Connecting the Passion Through Our Traditions, runs through a schedule that includes a Spanish book fair, cultural exhibitions and Día de los Muertos celebrations.
The opening night gala, Raíces & Ritmos: From Our Roots to Vancouver, takes place on October 14 at Performance Works on Granville Island. The cocktail event will feature Latin-inspired canapés, an all-vinyl DJ set by Mr. Pablo and a live performance by Brazilian-born guitarist, percussionist and composer Celso Machado. Visual projections and dancing round out the evening.

Gala tickets are $70 per person and include canapés and one cocktail. All proceeds support the Latino Seniors of BC program.
The Spanish Book Fair takes place on October 18 at Ocean Art Works on Granville Island. The free event brings together Spanish-language authors, storytellers and musicians for readings, storytelling sessions for adults and children, and live musical performances.
Participating writers and artists include María Fernanda León, Vanesa O’Toole and Belkys Pulido. Free registration is available through the festival program.

Día de los Muertos programming comes to The Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby on October 24 and 25. The two-day celebration includes an artisan market, live music, folklore and hands-on workshops centred on Day of the Dead traditions.
The October 24 workshops include papel picado, the traditional decorative paper banners, flower arranging, sugar skull decorating and Catrina lantern crafting. The October 25 schedule includes Catrina makeup, mask-making, storytelling and ofrenda-building, introducing participants to the altars created to remember loved ones.

Granville Island will host another Day of the Dead market and workshop weekend on October 31 and November 1. The program includes Latin American food, artisan vendors, live music and workshops such as sugar skull decorating and Catrina lantern crafting.
The closing ceremony, Celebrating Legacy & Community, takes place on November 2 at Latin Plaza Hub in Gastown. The gathering will recognise the artists, cultural bearers, partners and community members involved in the program, with music, cultural expressions and reflection.
Admission to the closing ceremony is by a suggested donation of $5 and includes a mini pan de muerto and hot chocolate. Advance registration is required.
The wider schedule includes a Story Circles workshop for seniors, an exhibition of traditional Guatemalan costumes and a roundtable bringing together Canadian and Latin American Indigenous perspectives on traditions in practice.
A guided tour of Tupananchiskama: Ancient Andean Cosmovision at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC will introduce visitors to pre-Columbian works and Andean perspectives on relationships between people, ancestors and the natural world.

Latin American Heritage Month Vancouver 2026 offers both free and ticketed events, with registration requirements varying by activity. The complete Latincouver program includes event details, workshop bookings and ticket information.
