Architecture & Design Film Festival Special Screenings at TriCity Pavilion

The Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) is bringing a curated season of short films to TriCity Pavilion in Coquitlam until November 30. Known as the world’s largest architecture and design film event, ADFF’s Special Screenings will feature rotating programs of international shorts that celebrate creativity, form, and the human connection to design. The screenings lead into ADFF: Vancouver, taking place November 5 to 9, 2025.

Architecture & Design Film Festival Special Screenings at TriCity Pavilion

Curated by festival founder and director Kyle Bergman, the Gallery Theatre inside TriCity Pavilion will host daily screenings from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., free of charge. The first program, launching this month, includes Form & Place – Patkau Architects, a contemplative film on the creation of Whistler’s Audain Gallery; There’s Life in the Insectarium, a poetic look at Montreal’s insectarium in winter; Counterweight, which captures Olson Kundig’s inventive kinetic architecture; and Instruments in the Architecture: Building the Pianodrome, documenting a UK community project transforming discarded pianos into an amphitheatre. New sets of films will premiere on October 15 and November 15.

A special ticketed ADFF x Nemesis Coffee Sunday Matinée takes place September 21 at 2 p.m., featuring Morgan Neville’s This Is Not A House. The film explores the making of one of the world’s most distinctive residences. Attendees will receive coffee and pastries during the screening and a limited-edition Nemesis coffee box curated for the event.

The screenings reflect TriCity Pavilion’s mission as a cultural and culinary gathering space within TriCity Central, a large-scale community development by Marcon in partnership with QuadReal Property Group. The 12,000-square-foot pavilion, opened this summer, has already welcomed over 20,000 visitors and features hospitality concepts from Nemesis Coffee and Kitchen Table Restaurants, including Gigi’s and Bar Lucia.

The Gallery Theatre continues to evolve as a creative hub for discussions on design, landscape, and community. Through ADFF’s partnership, visitors gain access to global design perspectives while connecting with the vision shaping Coquitlam’s transformation into a regional city centre.
