Treat your mom, grandmother, or the special mother figures in your life to a fun and festive Mother’s Day at Metropolis at Metrotown! BC’s largest shopping centre is hosting Mother’s Day festivities themed “We Love Moms & Mother Nature” with partial proceeds donated to Cause We Care Foundation.
A beloved annual event, Mother’s Day at Metropolis at Metrotown is jam-packed with activities for everyone.
Here are four ways to celebrate your mom or the mother figures in your life this year:
- Make a wish in the English garden museum. The Grand Court will be transformed into a mesmerizing English garden museum, designed from an ant’s perspective – think giant flowers and woodland creatures, as well as fun facts about pollinators. There’s also a wishing tree, where guests can hang their wishes written on a leaf tag. Metropolis at Metrotown will plant one tree for every wish. Dates: May 1 – June 1.
- Pay homage to mother figures and Mother Nature. Mother’s Day festivities at Metropolis at Metrotown are anchored by the “We Love Moms & Mother Nature” English garden party event, taking place in the Grand Court. The unforgettable afternoon features tasty food and refreshments, a build-your-own candy bar, an adopt-a-plant experience, a live DJ, an informative and interactive beehive experience. Tickets cost $40 per person, and include entry to the event as well as a gift bag with a $20 gift card to Metropolis at Metrotown. Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Cause We Care Foundation. Tickets are available from April 17 – May 10, and can be purchased online here. Date: May 11 (bookable time slots from 12-3pm).
- Spend and earn. With over 330 stores at Metropolis at Metrotown, there’s plenty of choices for shoppers searching for the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Bonus: if you spend $275 (before tax), you’ll earn a $25 gift card bonus! Dates: From April 25 – May 12, while supplies last.
- Snap a photo with pretty spring décor. Photo opportunities abound with mini-park installations situated throughout the shopping centre. They’re the perfect backdrop for memorable family photos! Dates: now through June 1.
Metropolis at Metrotown’s 2024 Mother’s Day theme carries a strong message of sustainability, and for good reason – the shopping centre is dedicated to protecting Mother Nature and eager to encourage shoppers to follow suit. Here are some ways Metropolis at Metrotown is supporting environmental responsibility:
- Bee habitat. Metropolis at Metrotown is home to 18,000 bees, which live on the roof, in beehives installed by Alvéole – a business dedicated to shedding light on agricultural issues like pesticide use, monocultures, and the loss of biodiversity.
- Chopstick recycling. Working with ChopValue, Metropolis at Metrotown has recycled over 1.3 million chopsticks, offsetting the equivalent of 65,285 kilograms of carbon emissions (as of January 2024).
- Organic recycling. The shopping centre uses only recycled paper, and has installed organic recycling stations in the food court.
- Electric vehicles welcome. The P1 parkade has six EV charging stations.
Mother’s Day celebrations at Metropolis at Metrotown run from April 25 to May 12. The shopping centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10am-9pm, and Sunday, 11am-7pm.
